Well I would first make sure it is an M22. LOTS of people THINK they have an M22 when they are selling them. 8 out of 10 that I see say it is an M22 an then have to be "educated". Correct main case casting number for a 69 is 3925660, with tailhousing of 3857584.

I went this route after much research. It may seem expensive at first but remember that a new Hurst shifter for your Muncie will be $600+ for everything needed. No shifter needed for the TKX (just a Hurst stick) and you get an overdrive gear! This trans will also take 600 lb ft of torque. I don't believe a STOCK Muncie will take anywhere near that.

If you are going to do it, I'd definitely recommend using the upgraded case considering how you use your car. Also, the good Italian-made gearsets for M22 usually cost a bit more than $600. Your best bet might be just ordering a new Muncie from Jody @ Jodystransmissons or Paul @ 5speeds (or buy all the parts to build one yourself).
